HOW TO CHOOSE A TOOTHBRUSH

When is the last time you changed your toothbrush? When you go to the store to pick up your new toothbrush, it can be overwhelming with the amount of choices and options. We'll give you some tips to help you out!
What should I look for when selecting a toothbrush?
- Generally most adults benefit from a toothbrush that is 1/2 inch wide and an inch tall with a handle long enough to comfortably hold while brushing. Bigger does not mean better - in fact, anything bigger may cause issues reaching small particles and your back molars properly.
- Now that you have your size, you must choose your bristle - soft, medium, or hard. The safest choice? Soft, nylon bristles. Medium and hard bristles can actually harm your mouth, causing damage to your gums and enamel.
- Finally, inspect the bristle shape - round or straight. Round bristles are a safe choice since they don't have sharp, damaging edges. Sharp bristles can damage your gums, increasing your change of inflammation and infection.
Electric vs. manual- which is better?
Everyone wants to know - electric or manual toothbrush, which is better? Electric toothbrushes are great, especially if you have limited manual mobility (such as having arthritis); electric toothbrushes are helpful at removing plaque.
